Dr. Stiefel began his career in emergency medicine in 1974 when, as a student at Cherry Hill High School West, he joined the Woodland Fire Company and Cherry Hill First Aid Squad as a volunteer. He became an EMT in 1975 and a volunteer Paramedic in 1977 with the West Jersey Health System (now Virtua Health). He also had several positions with transport ambulance companies and as an emergency room technician. He remains certified New Jersey paramedic #270 today.
Dr. Stiefel is board certified in Internal Medicine and Emergency Medicine and is board eligible for sub-specialty certification in Emergency Medical Services. With greater than 45 years of experience in EMS, he currently is the Medical Director for Inspira EMS and Ground Transport. He is a member and past Chairman of the New Jersey MICU advisory council. He also is a past member of the New Jersey EMS council. In addition, he is an instructor in ACLS and PALS and has held a position as regional faculty for the American Heart Association. He is a member of the Board of the Alumni Association at the Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine and had been an associate professor at the School of Paramedical Sciences at Camden County College until dissolution of the school. Dr. Stiefel was a member of the Board of Directors of the Gloucester Township Ambulance Alliance until 2018.
Dr. Stiefel was the recipient of the 2015 New Jersey State Department of Health, Office of Emergency Medical Services Outstanding EMS Physician of the Year Award.
